Sightseeing in Malaga

Malaga is one of the most popular tourist destinations in the Costa Del Sol and has wonderful tourist attractions like Bishops Palace and Alhambra Palace. Malaga is also located in close proximity to many spectacular beach resorts, Marbella, Torremolinos, and Fuengirola are considered to be the most popular beach resorts in the area.

Excursion to Antequera.

Located just 22 miles north of Malaga, Antequera city is famous for the Bronze Age ruins which were found during excavations, Dolmen de Antequera, Dolmen de Menga and Cueva de Viera are some of the prehistoric tombs that were built about 5000 years ago, which makes this place any historians dream destination. This town also has a lot to offer to all who enjoy nature, on the outskirts of this town is the largest nature reserve in Spain where visitors can spot a number of rare birds, if mountaineering is your passion then a visit to Torcal mountain range which is basically made up of limestone is highly recommended. These mountains have lot to offer to adventure sports enthusiasts in terms of rock climbing and hiking, the other places of tourist interest in Antequerra include the palace of Najera which was built in 18th century and a national monument built in 16th century called Real Colegiata de Santa María la Mayor.

Bishops Palace.

The two Bishop's Palaces known as Palacio Episcopal are located by the ancient cathedral in Malaga, these two palaces date back to 16th and 18th century respectively, the façade of the palace contains a baroque design which is constructed using different coloured marble. The interior consists of a patio resting on beautiful columns and a beautifully designed staircase takes you to the second floor, the patio on the first floor is linked to an intricately designed patio exterior depicting figures from the 18th century, the third floor is used for housing the bishop and his staff, the first two floors are also used for organizing large exhibitions.

Excursion to Alhambra Palace.

Plan a day out to the beautiful moorish Alhambra Palace by booking yourself a place on a luxury cruise liner and visit this beautiful, romantic monument, which is visited by more then 2 million tourists every year, Alhambra Palace is the last remaining example of moorish architecture revealing the excellence and rich culture of the moorish heritage which ruled Spain from 700 BC to 1492. Marked as UNESCO's world heritage site this red fortress contains many interesting features like the Hall of the Ambassadors, the largest room in Alhambra Palace with a 75 feet high dome, the room was used as a reception area and the kings throne was placed just opposite to the entrance, after completing the tour of this massive palace you can head to Mirador de San nicolas which is the largest surviving Moorish quarters, this place also provides a panoramic view of Alhambra Palace with the snow capped sierra Nevada mountains providing the perfect backdrop.

Excursion to Western Costa Del Sol.

The western part of the Costa de sol attracts numerous tourists, mainly because of the development of a number of tourist resorts that have been here since the early 1960's, why not start your day by visiting the former fishing village of Torremolino which is located just 12 kilometres from Malaga and is now a popular tourist destination. Torremolino includes modern resorts, pubs and nightclubs which are quite popular with most tourists, you can continue your journey by visiting the amusement park located at Benalmadena, if you want to enjoy a luxurious cruise then stop over at Puerto Banus which is famous for lot's of exclusive sea resorts like Marbella, the final destination of the day can be San Pedro de Alcantara where you can see the roman remains.

East coat excursion.

The El Palo district of Malaga with the neighbouring town of Cala de Moral takes you to the beautiful region of Axarquia, which is a perfect place for a day out, start by visiting the village of Rincon de la Victoria, which is about 13 kilometres from Malaga. A beautiful lake outlines it's interior, this place is also famous for Cueva del Tesoro and a grotto from the pre historic times, moving along the coastline you will travel through Velez, which is popular for it's olives and wines, if you enjoy shopping for bottled olives and tasty local wines then make sure you visit the ruins of the Arabian fortress & Santa Maria La Mayor church where you will find a wide selection of local produce on offer. The highlight of your trip could be a visit to Nerja, which is 52 kilometres from Malaga and is popularly known as Balcon de Europa or the Balcony of Europe, it is a place of amazing scenic beauty, a visit to the 3000 year old ancient caves which were discovered in 1959 is a great way to finish off your trip.
