Malaga has a wide range of acitivies available including golf, football, tennis, sailing, swimming, quad biking, skiing, horse riding, athletics and snow boarding.

Tennis.

Malaga has numerous tennis clubs, tennis is a popular sport in the Costa del Sol, there are different types of courts available in Malaga like Clay, hard and fast courts and prices for court hire also vary drastically. Most public sports centres offer tennis coaching for both adults as well as children, there are regular tournaments and competitions organized for all ages.

General tennis courts are situated at Municipal Sports Centres, Rafael Nadal of Spain is currently the world's no. 1 ATP ranked tennis player, some of the famous tennis clubs like Club de Tennis Estepona, Marbella Playa, Puente Romano Tennis Club are located at Hotel Puente Romano, Beach Club near Sotogrande port, Sotogrande Racquet Centre, El Cucurucho Beach Club and Miraflores Tennis Club, in fact your spoilt for choice as far as tennis clubs go.

Athletics.

Athletics is also a favourite sport that is pursued by tourists, most of the running tracks are generally of a good standard, some of the best tracks are at Mijas race course and Torremolinos. If your hotel is in the Costa del Sol then you must visit the Harris Club and enjoy world class athletic tracks, Malaga regularly holds running competitions and promotes athletics as a way of keeping fit, tourists can participate in these competition and even enjoy Malaga's views while taking part.

Football.

Football is another famous game on the Costa del Sol which is mostly municipal and loved by young and old alike, Malaga CF was originally the reserve team of CD Malaga, an earlier football club from the same city. There are different football leagues operating at a local, provincial and regional level for amateur players of all ages, children can also join Spanish football Leagues and join in with with teams. Golf.

Golf is much loved sport in Malaga, they have as many as 40 golf courses throughout Malaga and have some of the best golf courses in that part of the world. The quality of the Golf courses in Malaga has made Malaga a popular location for many golfers. The climate in Malga means that you can play golf through most of the year, some of the renowned golf courses are Club de golf Valderrama located in Sotogrande, Los Naranjos Golf Club, Alhaurin Golf, La Quinta Golf & Country Club.

Horse Riding.

There are numerous riding schools in the Costa del Sol with riding lessons and guided rides available, horse riding costs around 20€ for adult beginners in a group and 15€ for children. Some schools organise horse rides in the surrounding countryside at weekends, one of the coast's main horse riding venues is the School of Equestrian Art which organises competitions and also offers riding lessons for all levels and ages, the school is situated on the N-340 Ctra de Cádiz Km 159, Río Padrón s/n.

Quad Biking.

Quad Biking is also one of the popular sports in and around Malaga and can be found at the Fuengirola Diving Centre, Quad biking trips are available from one hour to a whole day to various locations in the Costa del Sol. Open all year from 10am to 6pm, more information can be obtained by calling + 34 976 771 120, it's also possible to assist in quad and motorbike races at Velez Malaga off road tracks and intensive races, big jumps are in every tournament.

Sking & Snow Boarding.

There are very few places in the world where you can ski in the morning and sunbathe on the beach in the afternoon, the area's closest ski resort is situated in Sierra Nevada around 200km north in the province of Granada. The journey from the coast to the slopes takes around two hours by road, the village of Pradollano offers around 70km of pistes with 30 runs, the village has ample accommodation available in hotels and apartments, there are also plenty restaurants and shops. There's undercover parking for 2800 vehicles and outside parking for a 1000 vehicles, during the skiing season snow is guaranteed as the resort has an extensive network of snow making machines, Sierra Nevada is Europe's southern resort, it's quite sunny on the slopes even when the temperatures are low.

Swimming.

Swimming is one of the most popular sports in Malaga and there are many indoor as well as outdoor swimming pools along the coast, Municipal indoor pools are Olympic size and are located in the towns of Coín, Malaga, Velez and Torremolinos. Municipal pools provide coaching for all age groups, Malaga have produced national champions from the famous swimming clubs Mijas and Real Club Mediterranean. There are also many indoor Pools which are presently under construction situated in Alhaurín de la Torre and Benalmadena, many sport clubs on the coast have indoor pools as well.

Sailing.

Sailing is a popular pastime in this region and the Costa del Sol offers wonderful opportunities for Sailing, there are different ranges of boats from luxury power boats or yachts to modest dinghies. You can hire boats from the marinas, boat hire is calculated by the hour, day or week, usually boats are moored at one of the coasts of marinas, fishing trips are also available from most fishing ports and marinas, one of the Marinas is the Marbella Maina which is situated in the centre of the towns fishing port. Puerto de Cabopino is located on the far east of Marbella, Puerto Banús Marina is one the most popular marinas and one of the largest with mooring for some 915 boats, Fuengirola port is in the central part of town and has mooring for 225 boats.
